TOPEKA, Kan. (AP) – The 69-52 vote late Thursday night by which the Kansas House approved a proposed $14 billion state budget that eliminates a projected $493 million shortfall for the fiscal year beginning July 1 and cuts base aid to public schools by $250 per student.
Of the 92 Republicans, 69 voted “yes,” 20 voted “no” and three did not vote. Of the 33 Democrats, 32 voted “no” and one did not vote.
