OSBORNE, Kan. (AP) – An Osborne County jury has found a 40-year-old Salina man guilty of first-degree murder in connection with the 2008 slaying of a north-central Kansas farmer.
Forty-year-old Delbert McBroom also was convicted of burglary and conspiracy in the death of 55-year-old Jeffrey Scott Noel, who was killed with his own shotgun after apparently interrupting a burglary.
The Salina Journal reports McBroom was the second man convicted in the death of the Portis farmer. Kenneth Wilson previously was sentenced to 50 years in the killing.
Osborne County coroner Lyle Noordhoek testified during the trial that Noel’s hands were tied behind his back and the shotgun was
pressed against the back of his head when it was fired.
He said blood stains suggest Noel was lying on the floor when he was shot.
