EMPORIA, Kan. (AP) – Former heavyweight boxing champion Tommy Morrison is scheduled to be in court in Emporia on two drug charges.
Morrison was arrested Feb. 17 near Emporia after a Kansas Highway Patrol trooper allegedly found eight grams of marijuana and a pipe with marijuana residue in the car Morrison was driving.
The Emporia Gazette reported that Morrison’s preliminary hearing is scheduled for Monday in Lyon County District. He is charged with possession of hallucinogenic drugs with two prior convictions, which is a felony. He also was charged with a misdemeanor possession with intent to use drug paraphernalia.
Emporia attorney Richard Clark Allemang II is representing Morrison, who won the World Boxing Organization heavyweight title
in 1993. Allemang did not immediately return a call Saturday seeking comment.
