HAYS, Kan. (AP) – Hays officials are evaluating four bids for commercial air service at Hays Regional Airport.
The Hays Daily News reported that the city’s current contract with Great Lakes Airlines is scheduled to expire Oct. 1.
Public Works Director Brenda Herrman said Great Lakes has proposed continuing its existing schedule, which provides 26 weekly flights to and from Denver. She said the airline’s proposal is only valid if the other four Essential Air Service airports in western Kansas select the same company.
SkyWest Airlines has proposed offering 14 weekly flights to and from Denver. SeaPort Airlines has proposed 28 weekly flights to Denver.
The fourth proposal is from Air Choice One, which has bid on service to Wichita only. The issue is expected to come before the Hays City Commission
June 2.
