UPDATE: Severe Thunderstorm Warning Issued for Saline County

UPDATE: At 4:37 the National Weather Service has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Saline County until 5:45 pm.
UPDATE: At 3:13 PM the National Weather Service issued a Tornado Watch for Saline County until 11:00 PM.

Early morning thunderstorms brought hail, high winds and heavy rain to portions of central Kansas early Tuesday morning.

Hail to the size of quarters were reported in Lincoln County along with winds of 50 to 60 mph in Lincoln and Russell Counties. By the time the storms moved into Salina and Saline County heavy rain and small hail was reported. Salina officially received .72 in about an hour .

More intense severe weather is anticipated later Tuesday afternoon with the threat being large hail and even some tornadoes especially after 4 p.m. The greatest threat for large long lived strong tornadoes will be in northern Oklahoma and southern Kansas.
