K-18 from the US-81interchange west to the Lincoln/Russell County line will be dedicated at 1:30 pm, Friday, May 27th, as the Donald K Ross Memorial Highway. The dedication Ceremony will take place ΒΌ mile west of the interchange on right of way on the south side of K-18.
Donald Ross, a native of Beverly, KS, was the first combatant awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor during Would War 2. Serving on the USN Nevada, Ross exhibited extraordinary courage and disregard for his own life during the attack on Pearl Harbor, Dec. 7, 1941.
Speakers at the dedication will include Rep. Elaine Bowers, Sen. Jay Emler, District Engineer Randy West and Navy Captain Dan McCulley. American Legion Commander Steve Errebo will serve as Master of Ceremonies. A reception shall take place at the Beverly Township Hall, 204 N. Main, Beverly, KS, following the dedication. The public is encouraged to attend.
In the event of rain, all activities will be moved to the Beverly Township Hall.
