Comments regarding a bill that would make it necessary for women to buy separate, abortion-only insurance policies, have brought Kansas Rep. Pete Degraaf (R-Mulvane) under fire from critics and women’s rights groups across the country.

Rep. Pete DeGraaf said, “We do need to plan ahead, don’t we, in life?”

When asked about instances of rape, Degraaf said, “I have a spare tire on my car.” “I also have life insurance,” he added. “I have a lot of things that I plan ahead for.”

Women’s rights organizations are calling for apologies and some even calling for his resignation.
