It lasted about 20 minutes, but hundreds gathered at the Salina-Saline County War Memorial in Sunset Park with near perfect weather late Friday morning to honor veterans on Veteran’s Day.
Veterans from World War II to Enduring Freedom as well as active duty members of the military were present to pay honor to all men and women who have or continue to wear the uniform of the United States Military.
Kansas National Guard Brig. General Eric Peck asked those in attendance to also remember the wounded warriors and the families of those serving our country.
A 21 gun salute, the playing of taps, and a bagpipe rendition of Amazing Grace were part of the ceremonies.
