At all three public forums on the anti-discrimination ordinance changes we have witnessed the presence of Salina Police Department. And for good reason. There have been perceived threats and security is in the best interest of all.
I would like to point out one instance where SPD did their job in outstanding fashion that to most went totally unnoticed.
While attending Saturday’s event, I received a phone call from a co-Patriot from out-of-town that he was coming to Salina to get a signature from another Patriot group leader on a bundle of documents that had already been signed by several others. I informed him that this leader was in attendance at the forum and when he got to town, to let me know and we would meet with him.
Our co-Patriot arrived and came inside the forum and we grabbed the other leader and stepped outside to sign the documents. The two of us then returned to our seats while the out-of town Patriot went on his way to Hays for another signature. Simple enough, correct?
Well, after the event, another person informed us that unbeknownst to us, one police officer had followed us out of the auditorium, as if we were under surveillance. The consensus was that we were being singled out as possible rabble-rousers or something.
As I have thought about this, it came to my mind that this was a good exercise in public behavior. The police officers were doing their job. I put myself in their shoes and the view I got was that one outspoken Patriot Activist had been on his cellphone, then another quite large and unidentifiable stranger arrived, and three persons in all left the premises. Suspicious?
The Bible… yeah, The BIBLE has something to say about this that we should all learn from.
“Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God. Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation. For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Wilt thou then not be afraid of the power? do that which is good, and thou shalt have praise of the same: For he is the minister of God to thee for good. But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain: for he is the minister of God, a revenger to [execute] wrath upon him that doeth evil. Wherefore [ye] must needs be subject, not only for wrath, but also for conscience sake. For for this cause pay ye tribute also: for they are God’s ministers, attending continually upon this very thing.” – Romans 13:1-6 KJV
In other words, It’s good to get caught doing something you are SUPPOSED to be doing.
Thanks again SPD, for a job well done in his majesty’s service.
