Are the Demo / GOP Members Sleeping in Tall Grass?
Recently I was working on a project at the kitchen table. Before long I heard the click clack of by birddog’s claws as he crossed the wooden floor and he made his way over to the table. He sat next to me for a few minutes before realizing this was going to be a longer project and he made 4 or 5 tight circles before he lay down and was soon snoring.
I have seen dogs do this since I was a kid and it always intrigued me. For millennium dogs have been doing this circle lay down routine. Its instinct. Their wild ancestors who ran the forests and tall grass country would do this to mash the grass together to make a nest with a better wind and weather barrier. Now domestic dogs do it even though they are inside on a wooden floor. They still go through the routine that served them well in past but is now of no significance, a meaningless gesture that no longer affords them any protection or value.
It dawned on me the rank and file political Party members are doing much the same thing. Years ago the Partys’ were comprised of people that had the same core values and beliefs and so the Party members could vote for the Party candidates and be reasonably sure they were electing someone with their interests and beliefs that would at least in general represent them.
Somewhere in the distant past that all changed. The Party’s became special interest group onto themselves rather than a group with the same interest. Now if the Parties serve the interests of the members it is accidental or incidental not by design. The members are now there to serve the Party’s interest not the other way around.
Yet the members still work for the Party and blindly support the Party. It is like instinct or force of habit has taken over their common sense and intellect. The members still take comfort walking in circles helping the Party rather than insisting the Party represent them.
Until they realize what is happening and are willing to give up the false sense of security and get out of the “tall grass”, until they have a paradigm shift nothing will change and we will all continue down the same road to perdition.
