John D. Robb, 17, died Monday, July 30, 2012, as a result of a car accident in Saline County. He was born John David Robb on March 1, 1995, in Salina to David and Nesha (Brummer) Robb. John would have been a senior at Salina South High School this coming school year.

He is survived by one daughter, Navayah Robb, of Salina; his parents, David and Nesha, of the home; sister, Amanda Gabrielle Waggle, of Lucas; grandparents, Ignatius and Marjorie Brummer, of Cawker City; nephews, Cameron and Alex Waggle; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 2, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, with Father Frank Cody as celebrant. Interment will follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Salina. A vigil and rosary service will be at 7 p.m. today at the church, with Monsignor James Hake officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 5:30 p.m. today at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth St., Salina, and from 6-7 p.m. at the church.

Memorials are suggested to the Navayah Robb Educational Fund, in care of the family.

Daryl Moore, 75, of Beloit, formerly of Gypsum, passed away Sunday, July 29, 2012. He was born September 3, 1936 in Abilene, the son of Donald and Doris Lucille (Buchenau) Moore. Daryl had been involved with OCCK for over 25 years. He enjoyed attending church, most recently at United Methodist Church in Beloit.

He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his guardian, Phyllis Behrends and husband Stanley and numerous cousins.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, August 2, at Ryan Mortuary. Visitation will be the hour prior to the service at the mortuary. Burial will be in Green Lawn Cemetery, Abilene. Memorials may be made to OCCK in care of Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth, Salina 67401.

Don Bremerman, 75, of Salina, died Friday, July 27, 2012. He was born July 28, 1936, in Oak Hill, the son of Harold and Anna (Cox) Bremerman.

Don farmed in Ottawa County for 20 years; he also owned and operated Bremerman Saw Mill. He worked as a millwright for Frisbie Construction Co. for 20 years. Don graduated from Minneapolis HighSchool in 1954 and was a supply sergeant in the U.S. Army.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Sandra, in 2010.

Survivors include his wife, Carole; two daughters, Lynette (Paul) Karcher, of Salina and Sierra Bremerman, of Lawrence; a sister, Arlene Ayers, of Fort Benton, Mont.; and three grandchildren, Owen, Landon and Taylor Karcher.

Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 3, at Ryan Mortuary, Salina. Inurnment will be in Highland Cemetery, Minneapolis. There is no visitation. Memorials are to the Arbor Day Foundation, in care of Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth, Salina 67401.

Dudley E. Bolby, age 48, died Sunday, July 29, 2012, at Salina. Mr. Bolby was born Dec. 21, 1963, in Salina to Floyd and Carol Bolby. He had worked for close to 20 years for Jim’s Formal Ware in Salina as supervisor in the shipping department. He was an avid deer hunter, fisherman and Denver Broncos fan.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Carol. He is survived by his wife, Catherine “Cathy,” of the home; son, Dudley Wiegand, of Salina; two daughters, Mandy Foth and Savanah Bolby, both of Salina; father, Floyd Bolby, of Salina; brother, Tommy, of Salina; grandchildren, Nichole Tankard, Chelsie Wilson, Destiny and Torrie Allen, all of Salina; and great-grandchildren, Brian and Mila Wallace, of Salina.

A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 4, 2012, at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth St., Salina, with the Rev. Burt Polk officiating. Inurnment will be in Highland Cemetery, New Cambria, Kan. There will be no visitation. Memorials are suggested to Hospice of Salina.

Margaret Christine Bloomquist, age 92, of Manhattan, Kansas, died Wednesday morning, August 1, 2012, at the  Meadowlark Hills Retirement Community in Manhattan.

She was born in Omaha, Nebraska, February 15, 1920, the third of five children born to Rev. C. G. and Rose Bloomquist.

The family moved to Portland, Oregon in 1922 where Margaret’s sisters Elsie and Florence were born.  The family moved to Seattle, Washington in 1927.  In 1934 the family moved to McPherson, Kansas, where Margaret graduated from high school in 1937.  After graduating from high school she entered Bethany College, Lindsborg, Kansas, receiving her B.A. degree in 1941.

Margaret taught junior and senior high school in McCracken, Kansas from 1941-1943.  Her teaching experience continued in Lindsborg, Kansas High School from 1943-1947.  She taught one year in the Benton Harbor, Michigan Junior High School.  The next year and a half were in Denver, Colorado, attending the University of Denver, receiving her M.A. degree in 1950.  She taught in the Salina, Kansas, High School for one year, prior to joining the staff at Bethany College.  Her first position at Bethany College was as an assistant to the Dean and Registrar.  In a short time she was asked to establish the Office of Admissions and become the Director of Admissions.  In 1956 she was asked to establish the Office of Registrar, to be separate from the Dean, and to become the Registrar.  While in this position, for one year, she was president of the Kansas Association of College Registrars and Admissions Officers.  She was Registrar until she moved to Manhattan in 1967, to be the Director of Personnel Services in the College of Education at Kansas State University.  This position was held until her retirement in 1985.

While living in Lindsborg, she sang in the Bethany College Messiah Chorus for 25 years.

Her memberships included First Lutheran Church and Delta Kappa Gamma (international organization for women educators.)  She was active in a number of positions at First Lutheran Church.  She served two terms on the First Lutheran Church Council, one term as president of the women’s organization (WELCA), for many years a member of the Church Building Committee, and the First Lutheran Church Chancel Choir.  After leaving the building committee she was active in the designing and completion of the church chapel.

Margaret was preceded in death by her parents; four sisters, two nieces and two nephews.

She is survived by nieces and nephews and many friends.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 4, 2012, at the First Lutheran Church-Good Shepherd Chapel with Reverend Dr. Keith Wiens officiating.  Inurnment will be held at a later date in the Gypsum Hill Cemetery in Salina, Kansas.
