OPINION: I’m Falling And It’s A Good Thing

By John Fedele

I’m at the edge of the cliff and it’s giving way…oops, here I go!!

The bottom line is that old ad for car repairs….”You can pay me now, or you can pay me later.” There is going to be a recession, the question is when? Like the kid with the band aid that needs to be removed, he can do it fast and have a little pain for a little while or he can slowly pull it off and suffer a bit more pain a bit longer. I say let’s rip that band aid off!

We know the government will not come up with a fix. They are too “party” oriented to do anything other than remove the band aid and replace it with another. The debt ceiling is about to be reached and we all know they will increase it. We will have another trillion dollar deficit this year, and if we fall over the cliff we will have four more years of trillion dollar deficits. And we deserve it!

We re-elected Obama knowing he and his administration did not pass a budget in four years and just kept building on the deficit, which he promised to make go away. He again, said his plan was better than Romneys and his plan is the same old one he used the past 4 years. America seemed to want that, so live with it!

The good news is (f you don’t take into consideration the government does not have a lock box for Social Security) that the payroll deduction for SS will expire, which means that money will (should) go into the SS trust fund.

The report says about 3.4 million jobs would be lost, which means 3.4 million more folk on unemployment, but 3 million, who are unemployed now would lose benefits because of the cliff, so it means we have a wash when it comes to more government spending.

So, let’s all take the fall together, because we elected to continue down the road to Greece. It is the price one pays for depending on the government for everything. Somewhere along the way Americans forgot what their grandparents told them…”you do not got something for nothing.”
