It seems like every year, Southeast of Saline meets up with Hutch-Trinity in the first round of sub-state. That was the case again this year with the Lady Trojans grabbing victory, 47-21.

Southeast started the game strong defensively, switching formations and keeping Trinity off balance. SES led 16-6 at the end of the 1st quarter before outscoring the Celtics in the 2nd quarter 8-3 for a 24-9 halftime lead.

The host team took better care of the ball in the second half, committing just four turnovers and Southeast poured it on to pull away in the second half. SES took the victory, 47-21, for their 16th victory of the season.

Southeast of Saline remains undefeated at home this season, a perfect 8-0 and has won six games in a row.

The Trojans were led by Erica Montgomery who scored 17 points and grabbed 9 rebounds. Sophomore Kylee Thaxton had 14 points and Freshman Karis Calahan chipped in 6 points.

Southeast of Saline (16-5) will travel to Hesston to play the number #1 ranked team in Class 3A on Thursday. The Lady Swathers (21-0) defeated Halstead on Monday night, 54-33 to remain undefeated. The game is scheduled for a 7:30 pm start.
