Low income Kansans who qualify for the free government cellphone program known as “Lifeline” are getting an upgrade.
New phones now with double the minutes are being distributed today at the Food Bank at 255 South Chicago street here in Salina.
The network is getting an upgrade as well as the new phones run on the Verizon network. Kansans who qualify are those with Vision cards, free school lunches, SSI, SSD, KanCare. Just bring your card or a letter showing your participation in one of those programs with a photo ID to the tent at the Food Bank today in Salina.
They will be on hand distributing the free phones until 4pm today.
