A legal notice by Brooke Dinkel was published in the Wednesday June 10th Edition of the Salina Journal. The notice read as follows:
Dinkel Brooke #109811 sentenced to 165 months for Rape: sexual intercourse w/victim <14yrs old and offender is >=18 yrs old in Saline County , Kansas has applied for executive clemency. Dinkel was sentenced for her conviction of two counts of rape for sex with a 13-year-old student while she was a counselor at Smoky Valley Middle School Lindsborg where the boy was a student.
Dinkel first had sex with the teen at her home in Salina in December of 2012 while he was working for Dinkel to earn money.
During sentencing In addition to statements of support from her father and a aunt, Dinkel addressed the court. She became emotional at times saying, said made a poor decision, and that the teen raped her while working at her home. Dinkel said “after that, I don’t know what happened to me”
Dinkel begged Judge Patrick Thompson to let her return to her family and her 4 and 6 year old daughters.
Before announcing the sentence, Judge Thompson said Dinkel had done damage and destruction to both her family and that of the teen. He also told Dinkel “ You are not the victim.”
Dinkel became an inmate at the Topeka Correctional Facility on January 8th. according to the information from the Kansas Department of Corrections, Dinkel is listed as a low-medium inmate. Currently the earliest possible release date is listed as February 9th 2026.
