
UPDATE: Representatives from Westar Energy tell the Salina Post that an early morning power outage was caused by a tree limb that damaged an insulator.
Westar says that power was lost at approximately 4:53 a.m. and was restored to most customers by 5:47 a.m., while some customers were without power until 7:00 a.m.
Westar said that a total of 2,214 customer were effected by the outage.

Update: As of 6:00 a.m., the outage is now affecting between 50-500 customers. The area still reported without power is east of South Marymount Road, South of East Crawford, and West of the Salina Municipal Golf Course.
More than 2,200 Westar Energy Customers were without power just before 5:00 a.m. Monday morning. A check of Westar Energy’s outage map on their website shows the largest area affected is south of Crawford and east of Ohio. The estimated time given to restore power is 8:00 a.m. Cause for the outage is not immediately known.
