
Speeding on I-70 Monday results in the arrest of three people on drug charges. Saline County Sheriff Glen Kochanowski said around 6:00p.m., a deputy clocked a Toyota Camry going 96 mph westbound near milepost 250. As the deputy approached the car, there was a strong smell of marijuana. During a search of the car deputy found a baggie of what is believed to be marijuana in the console. 19-year-old Jalen Fields of Dayton, Ohio, was arrested on charges of possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, and speeding.

Then, at about 11:00p.m. Monday night, another deputy stopped a speeding Ford Focus going eastbound at 87 mph near milepost 245. The deputy noticed a strong smell of marijuana and during a search of the car, several various packages of marijuana were recovered. Arrested on charges of possession of marijuana, drug paraphernalia, and no tax stamp were two men, 32-year-old James Wheatley and 20-year-old Damaris Griffin, both of Seymour, Tennessee. Wheatley was also charged with speeding and driving on a suspended license.
