Seven October Vehicles Thefts Due To Keys Left Inside

AutoTheftAccording to the Salina Police Department, ten vehicles were reported stolen in Salina in the month of October. Seven of those vehicles had the keys left inside. There were 24 reported thefts from vehicles, and in 21 of those instances, vehicles were left unlocked. The Salina Police Department believes that as a community, we can do better.

Here are some tips from the Salina Police Department to prevent auto theft and to prevent you from becoming a victim:

  • DO NOT leave keys in your vehicles and ALWAYS lock the doors.
  • Park in well-lit areas.
  • Never leaving valuables in your vehicle, especially where they can be seen.
  • Never leaving the area while your vehicle is running.
  • Keep your vehicle in your garage, if possible.
