8a5bab_1ebcd4adbf4d464bb3321f12aaebb429Steven Edward Shute, 45, passed away February 3, 2016 in Ellsworth. He was born June 18, 1970 in Salina.

A lifetime resident of Ellsworth, Steven was a heavy equipment operator, over the road truck driver, farrier, and also spent time working on the wind towers in Spearville, KS. He attended Oklahoma Horseshoeing School to become a farrier and Dodge City Community College on a rodeo scholarship.

Steven is survived by his son Lucas Bolen (Shute) of Ellsworth; parents, Roy and Nancy Shute of Ellsworth; brother, Jim Shute (Shawntelle) of Sedan; sister, Cecelia Miller (Scott) of Junction City; 1 niece and 3 nephews.

A celebration dinner will take place at noon, Saturday, February 6, 2016 at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church Parish Hall with a memorial service following at 2:00 p.m. at the church.

A private family inurnment will take place at a later date.

3584052Betty “Joyce” Fitzgerald, 72, Morrowville, died February 3, 2016 at Bryan LGH in Lincoln, NE.

Visitation will be Thursday, February 4, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Ward Funeral Home, Washington. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7.

A funeral service will be 10 a.m., Friday, February 5, 2016 at the Morrowville Christian Church, Morrowville.

Burial will be in the Haddam City Cemetery.

Joyce was born December 19, 1943 to Marvin and Ruth (Wells) Ginn on a farm one mile south of the stateline at rural Morrowville, KS. She attended grade school at Albia Rural then transferred to Plainview Rural. Joyce graduated from Morrowville Rural High School in 1963.

In 1964, she was united in marriage to Chuck Fitzgerald at the catholic church in Fairbury, NE, where she was also baptized. Chuck and Joyce lived in Jansen, where they owned and operated the Western Bar.

Joyce was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary for several years. As hobbies, she enjoyed crocheting, collecting pigs, and taking care of her dog, Pepper. She bowled on several leagues in Fairbury and Washington and until recently, when her health failed her, she loved to walk.

She looked forward to eating out with the Fairbury ladies and having morning coffee with the local ladies at the Cougar’s Den.

Survivors include her sister, Jean Lehman, Morrowville; nephew, Jeff (Gidget) Lehman, Washington; niece, Tammy (Craig) Fencl, Morrowville; great nephews, Brett (McKinsey Bell) Lehman and Jaxson, Morrowville; and great nieces, Kaley (Ray Malchow) Fencl, Alexx, and Alyssa, Beatrice, NE, Natosha (Randall) Hevelone, Charlotte, and Abagail, Hanover, KS.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Chuck; and brother-in-law, Bob Lehman.

A memorial fund is established and will be designated later by the family. Contributions may be sent in care of Ward Funeral Home, Washington.

3589706Marcele M. Harry, 94, of Wichita, KS, died Wednesday, February 3, 2016 at her home in Wichita.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, February 8 at Ward Funeral Home in Washington. Visitation will be one hour prior to service time.

Burial will be in the Agenda Cemetery.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Millie (Byrd) Kramer; two brothers, infant George Henry Kramer and Donald D. Kramer; and a sister, Maxine Bower.

Survivors include her son, DeWitt Harry, Wichita; grandchildren, Chris Harry and Vicky (Chris) Pace; two great grandchildren, all of Wichita; brother, Loren (Velda) Kramer, Smith Center, KS; and two sisters, Lorene Carlson, Manhattan, KS, and Betty O’Grady, Yankton, SD.

A memorial fund has been established and will be designated later. Contributions may be sent in care of Ward Funeral Home, 115 W. 2nd, Washington, KS 66968.
