Bank Warns of Phone Scam

FirstBankFirst Bank Kansas has issued the following release concerning a scam that claims to be associated with the bank:

We have been alerted of SCAM phone calls being made by persons claiming to work for First Bank Kansas. For this reason, we wanted to take the opportunity to remind you that we will NEVER call and ask for your social security number or account number. We may use this information to verify your identity if you call to make changes to your account, but we would never initiate contact with you to request that information.

If you receive a call from someone claiming to work for First Bank Kansas, we encourage you to hang up and call or visit your local First Bank Kansas branch to verify the legitimacy of the call you received. Do not rely on Caller ID to validate the caller – this information can be easily changed by those attempting to carry out the fraud.

The security of your account is our top priority and we want to assure you of the safety of your information. If you have received a call similar to this recently and gave out any personal information, please contact us as soon as possible so that we may take extra precautions to secure your account from fraudulent transactions.
