Salina Police are investigating two separate cases of internet scams.
Captain Mike Sweeney said a 56-year-old woman from north Salina had been contacted via e-mail concerning grants from a company called Cenex Hydra to renovate her home. The woman was told there would be a processing fee and two of her credit cards were charged a total of $3,200. She reported the case to police on February 19th.
Salina Police have also taken a report concerning a 56-year-old south Salina man losing money to someone he became friends with on Facebook. The person claimed to be a Diana Shannon from Nigeria. Via Facebook, she told the man she needed money for food and other items. She sent the victim three checks. He then sent money with MoneyGrams totaling $3,049. The victim made contact with police on February 19th.
