Liberty Sign Former Wichita Force Star

KassanavoidThe Salina Liberty announced a new addition to the roster on Friday with the signing of former Wichita Force quarterback and wide receiver Joe Kassanavoid.

Kassanavoid who played collegiately at Kansas State University, spent the past five seasons in Wichita, signing with the Wild in 2011 and transitioning to the Force in 2015.

In four seasons with the Wild, Kassanavoid proved to be a versatile talent on both sides of the ball. He spent time at wide receiver, quarterback, and even linebacker. After racking up 67 total tackles, good for third on the team, Kassanavoid transitioned to wide receiver and backup quarterback for the 2013 season.

The position switch was a success, as he totaled 53 catches for 655 yards and 20 touchdowns. In 2014, Kassanavoid caught 38 passes for 343 yards and 16 touchdowns.

Kassanavoid helped the Wichita Wild win two consecutive CPIFL league championships in 2013 and 2014, and played in an instrumental role in the Force’s run to the 2015 CIF playoffs.

He joins a Salina Liberty team that is currently preparing for their inaugural game against the Wichita Force on Saturday, March 5th at 7:05 p.m. at the Salina Bicentennial Center. Tickets are available at the Bicentennial Center ticket office at 800 The Midway, by phone at 888-826-SHOW, or online at BicentennialCenter.com.
