A bridge repair project will begin on U.S. 81 in Saline County on Monday, July 11.
The bridges, crossing the Saline River, are located approximately two miles north of the I-70/I-135/U.S. 81 Interchange. Both the northbound and southbound bridge will be under construction at the same time. Repairs include strip seal replacement and deck patching as needed.
Traffic in each work zone will be reduced to one lane thru construction at a reduced rate of speed. Plans call for the project to be completed by September 16, weather permitting.
The purpose of the project is to improve ride quality and extend the life of the highway.
Bettis Asphalt & Construction Inc. of Topeka is the prime contractor on this project, which has a total estimated cost of $246,276.30.
