No Injuries in Afternoon House Fire

Firefighters were at the scene of a fire at an east Salina home early Friday afternoon.

Salina Fire Marshal Roger Williams tells The Salina Post at the scene that the fire, which started just after 1 p.m., was electrical in nature and started in an laundry room near a breaker box in the back of the residence.

Williams said the occupants of the home, which is located at 236 E. Ellsworth, were not present when the fire started and no one was injured. Williams said two dogs and a rabbit were also uninjured.

According to Saline County records, the home is owned by Peter and Clemencia Hall of Salina.

Due to the electrical nature of the fire, Westar Energy was called to the scene.

Williams said the home would be uninhabitable for a while and occupants of the home were being assisted by the North Central Kansas of the American Red Cross to find a place to stay.
