6th earthquake in 3 weeks hits Ellis County

ELLIS — Another small earthquake struck north of Ellis on Sunday.

The U.S. Geological Survey reported a 3.2-magnitude quake hit at 10:24 p.m. Sunday, centered 5.4 miles north-northwest of Ellis.

It was the fifth earthquake recorded in the area in less than a week, according to the USGS and the 6th since last month.

On August 31, an earthquake registering 3.2 on the Richter Scale was centered four miles northwest of Ellis, according to the USGS.

On September 14, a 3.5 magnitude quake was reported 4.3 miles north of Ellis.

On the evening of September 15 and early hours of September 16, three small quakes measuring 2.6- 3.5 were centered near Ellis.

No damage or injuries are reported.
