On Wednesday evening the police were contacted to investigate two phone scams.

Captain Paul Forrester told The Salina Post that two men received a phone call from a man identifying himself as a Saline County sheriff’s deputy. The man asked them to provide their social security number, said that they had two warrants out for their arrest, and that paying $2,500 would take care of the situation.

Isaac Taylor, 35 of salina went to Casey’s General Store and purchased a Green Dot MoneyPak card, had his mother put $500 on the card, and contacted the “deputy” with the card information.

Justin Wires, 47, of Salina, realized it was a scam, hung up on the caller, and notified the police.

There are no suspects at this time.
