The Salina Liberty defeated the Wichita Force Saturday night 56-47 to remain atop the northern division in the CIF
After falling behind 38-21 on a 50 yard Ed Smith kick return just before halftime, the Liberty came out hot in the second half, outscoring the Force 35-9 in the half.
The charge was led by the Liberty defense, in particular, Trey Dudley, who picked Rocky Hinds off three times as Salina shut down the Force.
Salina improves to 8-3 on the season, competing with Quad City and Sioux City for one of two home playoff seeds to open the postseason.
Wichita drops to 4-7, drifting further and further away from the playoff picture.
The Liberty travel to Independence next Saturday to take on the Kansas City Phantoms in their last regular season game of the year. Full coverage of the game can be heard on 910 KINA.
