A pickup and firearm were recovered Thursday after they were stolen from a home in the 1000 block of Melrose Lane earlier in the week.
Salina Police Captain Paul Forrester said Friday that at 4 p.m. Thursday, police were called to the 2600 block of South Ninth, where the owner had located his stolen 2000 Ford Ranger. Forrester said a Smith and Wesson 357 also was recovered. The truck is valued at $2,100 and the firearm $400.
Police arrested Zachariah McCready, 23. Forrester said McCready had crawled through a dog door, took the keys to a safe, and took the firearm before leaving in the Ranger.
McCready was charged with one count of burglary, one count of felony theft, one count of criminal possession of a weapon by a felon, and one count of felony theft of a firearm.
