Numerous citations were issued and several arrests were made by the Saline County Sheriff’s Office personnel during the recent You Drink. You Drive. You Lose. campaign.

According to information proviced by the sheriff’s office, during the campaign, sheriff’s office personnel conducted overtime saturation patrols to aggressively enforce Kansas impaired driving laws. During the campaign, sheriff’s office personnel:

• made three impaired driving or related arrests
• wrote 12 safety belt citations
• wrote one youth restraint citation
• wrote 13 speeding citations
• had 64 other citations and arrests

Additionally, they issued no texting while driving citations, the sheriff’s office reported. Eighty-eight vehicle stops were made during the campaign. Ninety-two percent of the stops were made at night.

“Stops, arrests, and tickets are primarily meant to teach,” said Sheriff Roger Soldan. “If you were stopped, you, hopefully, learned from your experience. If so, we have made the roads a little safer for you and those you share the road with. We will continue to do that because, while the You Drink. You Drive. You Lose. campaign may be over, traffic enforcement never is.”
