
Doug was a 1957 graduate of Concordia High School.
On October 4, 1957 Doug married Sandra VanLaningham in Concordia, Kansas.
Doug was a US Postal carrier and reserve for the Cloud County Sheriff’s Department in Concordia. In 1999 he retired as the Street Supervisor for the City of Edmond, Oklahoma.
He was a member the Moose Lodge, Elks Lodge, Optimist Club all of Concordia.
His hobbies included racing, fishing, and traveling and most of all visiting with family and friends, Doug never met a stranger.
Survivors include his wife Sandy of the home in Concordia, his 3 daughters, Kay Cyphers (Chris), Concordia, KS.; Sherri Breault (Joe), Wichita, KS.; Gayle Chartier, Wichita, KS.; a brother, Ted Hanson (Arvilla), Littleton, CO.; 2 sisters, Gloria Harris, New Bern, NC.; Twila Walkup, Newton, IA.; brother-in-law, Max VanLaningham (Relda), Austin, TX.; 8 grandchildren, Erikka, Lacy, Jeff, Nick, Elaina, Katie, Josh, and Coady, 11 Great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Theodore and Alice, a brother, Bob Hanson, 4 sisters, Louise Hanson, Dorothy Hagadorn, Geneva Thompson, Theodora Therkildsen, father and mother-in-law, Merl and Irene VanLaningham.
Visitation will be held on Friday, September 28, 2018 from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., with family receiving friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home.
Cremation has taken place and a private family inurnment will be held at later time at the Hollis Cemetery, Hollis, Kansas.
