City code, zoning changes on city agenda

Consideration of changes to city code and a zoning change are among the items on the Salina City Commission agenda for Monday.

Commissioners are scheduled to meet in a study session at 2:30 p.m. Monday in room 107B of the City-County Building, 300 W. Ash. The topic of the study session is the 2019-2023 Capital Improvement Plan. A citizens forum time for public comment on the topic is scheduled for 3:45 p.m.

The regular meeting is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. in room 107 of the City-County Building. A citizens forum time for public comment is scheduled near the beginning of the meeting.

Toward the beginning of the meeting, the commissioners are scheduled to hear two requests for city proclamations, including the following.

Proclaim the month of October 2018 as “Community Planning Month” in the city of Salina in conjunction with the celebration of National Community Planning Month. Owen Freiburger, Planning Commission Chair, is scheduled to read the proclamation.

Proclaim the month of October 2018 as “National Arts and Humanities Month” in the city of Salina. Anna Pauscher and Grace Peterson with Arts and Humanities, are scheduled to read the proclamation.

Commissioners also are scheduled to consider changes to city code in the areas of traffic, public offense, and witness and victim intimidation.

Additionally, commissioners are scheduled to consider a request from Steven Dorzweiler to change the zoning district classification at 1332 Woodland Avenue from single-family residential to light industrial.

Commissioners also are being asked to consider the acceptance of the offered utility easement and street right-of-way dedications from Magnolia Hills, Inc. to serve Magnolia Hills Estates Addition No. 2.

They also are being asked to consider a request to authorize city staff preparation of a special assessment engineering feasibility report for Phase II of Pheasant Ridge Addition No. 3.
