Woman, dog Pickles in custody after early Sunday incidents

A woman and her dog are in custody after two alleged burglaries early Sunday morning.

Salina Police Detective Sergeant David Villanueva said Monday that a 45-year-old Salina man called police shortly before 5 a.m. Sunday because upon arriving home, he noticed someone was in his residence in the 600 block of West Iron.

As he approached the home, he heard the door open and close and noticed a woman coming from the residence. The man told the woman to stop, but she continued, so he chased her, tackled her, and held her on the ground until police arrived shortly after, Villanueva said.

Villanueva said 32-year-old Allison Williams was arrested. According to Villanueva, Williams had two purses from an earlier burglary in the 100 block of South 12th and a flashlight and cellphone from the West Iron residence. Additionally, she had allegedly consumed a Powerade drink while in the West Iron residence, Villanueva said. Williams also had several knives and her dachshund, Pickles, with her, he said.

Williams was arrested on charges of burglary, criminal damage to property, and two counts of theft, Villanueva said.

Pickles currently is residing in the Salina Animal Shelter, he added.
