Larry Eisenhour, 79, of Salina, passed away Thursday October 4, 2018 at Salina Regional Hospital. He was born April 28, 1939 in Ransom, KS to Glenn and Icis (McKenzie) Eisenhour. He graduated from McCracken High School in 1957 and married his high school sweetheart, Joyce Showalter May 29, 1960. After graduating from Fort Hays State College in 1961, he was drafted and served in the U.S. Army from 1962 to 1964. While in the army he served as the company clerk and was on the pistol team. He was honorably discharged January 17, 1964.
Larry loved camping and boating, hunting and fishing with friends and family. He coached little league baseball and he loved high school football, announcing home games at Quivira Heights for nearly 10 years. He and Joyce created a home where all the neighborhood kids were loved and welcomed. He was an avid Kansas City Royals fan in good years and bad. After he retired he enjoyed woodworking and making pens. He still enjoyed playing bridge, men’s breakfast group, Salina Community Theatre and the Vagabonds group at Trinity UMC.
Larry is survived by his wife, Joyce of Salina; his children, Mitch (Dellena) Eisenhour of Newport News, VA and Melinda (Mike) Parks of Lenexa, KS; his grandchildren, Jennifer Eisenhour and Jacob Eisenhour of Newport News, Andy Eisenhour of Salina, and McKenzie Parks of Lenexa; sisters, Elaine (Frank) Littler and Jan (Arlyn) North of McCracken, KS and brother Dwight Eisenhour of Cimarron, KS.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Glenn and Icis (McKenzie) Eisenhour of McCracken.
The family will receive visitors 6-8 p.m., on Tuesday October 9th at Ryan Mortuary in Salina. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday October 10th at Trinity United Methodist Church, 901 E Neal, Salina. Burial will be at 3 p.m. at the McCracken Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Trinity United Methodist Church, The American Cancer Society or Hospice of Salina, in care of Ryan Mortuary, Salina.
