Board and committee appointments, rezoning issues, consideration of action concerning potentially dangerous structures, and the possible reduction of costs for downtown crosswalk overhead structures are included on the city commission agenda for Monday.
The city commissioners are scheduled to first meet in a study session at 2:30 p.m. Monday in room 107 of the City-County Building, 300 W. Ash. The topic of the study session, which is scheduled to include the Planning Commission, is Salina housing initiatives. A citizens forum for public comment at the study session is scheduled for 3:45 p.m.
The regular weekly commission meeting is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. Monday in room 107 of the City-County Building. A citizens forum public comment session is scheduled near the beginning of the meeting.
Commissioners are scheduled to consider a request for a proclamation declaring October 7-13 as Fire Prevention Week in Salina. Fire Marshal Troy Long is scheduled to read the proclamation.
Appointments to several boards and committees also are on the city agenda. Persons nominated for appointment include the following.
- Business Improvement District Advisory Board — Larry Michel to fill the unexpired term of Amy Kay Pavlovich until 8/31/2020
- Community Art and Design Advisory Committee — Dee Warren appointed until 8/31/2021
- Disciplinary Advisory Board — Douglas Lawson appointed until 8/31/2021
- Housing Authority — Susan Weis to fill the unexpired term of Natasha Gawith until 8/31/2019
Other items on the city commission agenda include the following.
- The second reading Ordinance No. 18-10979 changing the zoning district classification from R (Single-Family Residential) district to I-2 (Light Industrial) district on property addressed as 1332 Woodland Avenue.
- The second reading Ordinance No. 17-10879 changing the zoning district classification on a 19.38 acre tract of land located on the east side of Markley Road, north of Magnolia Road from A-1 (Agricultural) to R-1 (Single-Family Residential).
- Resolution No. 18-7607 extending the compliance deadline as ordered by Resolution No. 18-7576 related to repairs or demolition of a dangerous structure located at 439 S. Phillips.
- Resolution No. 18-7611 setting the date for a dangerous structure public hearing to consider whether a certain structure, located at 622 S. 9th Street, shall be condemned and ordered demolished or repaired.
- Resolution No. 18-7608 authorizing the mayor to execute an agreement with ABCreative for the sale and purchase of playground equipment for Hawthorne Park.
- Consider Change Order No. 3 to reduce the crosswalk overhead structure costs thereby increasing the available contingency for the Downtown Streetscape Project.
