The Salvation Army is accepting applications for bell ringers for its annual Christmas Kettle Campaign.
According to Captain Lynn Lopez, the Salvation Army will pay $8 per hour, but is hoping that more people will volunteer, thus freeing up more funds for the community programs the organization provides.
“The funds we raise serve our community in need in a variety of ways. They put food on the table of families who would otherwise go hungry. It supports our community meal served Monday through Friday at 5 p.m., as well as helping provide social services, local emergency disaster services, youth programs, women’s and men’s ministry programs, and of course seasonal Christmas programs providing to families in need,” Lopez said. “Without the support of our local community we would not be able to provide all of these wonderful services.”
Applications may be picked up at the Salvation Army, 1137 N. Santa Fe. Persons wishing to volunteer may call the organization at 785-823-2251.
Salvation Army kettles will be placed throughout the community from November 17 to December 24. Lopez said that nine locations with a total of 15 doors already have been confirmed. Most sites will ring from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Lopez said.
“I want to thank everyone in advance because my first Christmas here (2017) was amazing and I look forward to seeing this same outpouring of love for 2018. God bless y’all indeed! Thank you!” Lopez added.
