The National Weather Service in Wichita (NWSW) has issued a freeze watch for the Salina area that is in effect from Sunday evening through Monday morning.
The watch includes the following counties: Russell, Lincoln, Barton, Ellsworth, Saline, Rice, McPherson, Marion, Chase, Reno, Harvey, Butler, Greenwood, Kingman, Sedgwick, Harper, Sumner, and Cowley.
A freeze watch means sub-freezing temperatures are possible. These conditions could kill crops and other sensitive vegetation.
Temperatures are forecast to range from the mid and upper 20s across central Kansas to the upper 20s and lower 30s across south central and portions of southeast Kansas. Temperatures are expected to be below freezing by early Sunday evening across central Kansas while much of south central and portions of southeast Kansas will experience a much shorter duration of below freezing temperatures.
