UPDATED: Blizzard Warning: 5 to 8 inches of snow expected, winds up to 50 mph

UPDATED Sunday 10:56 a.m.: According to Kandrive.org, Interstate 70 is closed between Junction City and WaKeeney due to poor visibility.

Kansas Highway 18 is closed from Bennington east to the intersection with Kansas Highway 15.

U.S. Highway 24 is closed from the intersection with U.S. 81 east to the intersection with U.S. Highway 77.

Kansas Highway 15 is closed from I-70 north to the intersection with U.S. 36.

 


Several Blizzard Warnings are in effect for nearly all of the upper two thirds of Kansas.

For Saline County, a Blizzard Warning is now in effect until 6 p.m. Sunday.

In an update at 3:41 a.m. Sunday, the National Weather Service office in Wichita raised the amount of snow expected for Saline County to five to eight inches. Additionally, wind gusts are expected to hit 50 mph.

A Blizzard Warning means severe winter weather conditions are expected or occurring. Falling and blowing snow with strong winds and poor visibilities are likely. This will lead to whiteout
conditions, making travel extremely dangerous. Do not travel. If you must travel, have a winter survival kit with you. If you get stranded, stay with your vehicle.
