You still have time to help keep feet warm!
During the month of November, Salina Shares is collecting new socks to share with individuals and agencies throughout Salina. Men’s, women’s, and children’s socks are all welcome.
“From the time we began to be out and about in our community, we have heard from other organizations much larger than ours that socks are a constant need, especially during the winter,” Debbie Rivers, executive director of Salina Shares told Salina Post.
“There seemed to be a very simple solution that fell in line with the fiber of our philosophy on sharing: collect socks and share with the community. It really is that simple. Socks are an affordable item that are simple for people to purchase and donate,” she added.
Socks can be dropped off at a number of locations around town, including Eagle Communications (SalinaPost.com, KINA, and 99KG), 1825 S. Ohio. Our collection bin is just inside the front door near the reception desk and will be available through 5 p.m. Friday.
“We believe that what Salina Shares does in our community year round and are glad to participate by collecting warm socks for our friends who need them,” said Lonnie Smith, Eagle Communications Salina general manager.
