First District Republicans elect officers

Republicans in the First Congressional District re-elected Tom Arpke (Saline County) as their chairman and Jim DuBois (Saline County) as their treasurer during the district’s annual meeting January 12.

This will be Arpke’s second term as chairman and DuBois’ third term as treasurer. Also elected as vice chair was Laura Tawater (Ford County) and secretary Beverly Caley (Clay County). Tawater will replace Celia Beymer (Kearney County) who moved out of state and Caley replaced Tina Burgardt (Finney County).

The event was hosted at the 4H Building in Salina where more than 120 delegates and alternates were in attendance. Several speakers were also heard by the group including Lt. Governor Tracy Mann, who spoke about an update on the state level, Congressman Roger Marshall, who provided an update on congressional affairs, State Treasurer Jake LaTurner, and Republican National Committeeman Mark Kahrs.

Delegates and alternates will attend the state GOP Meeting February 15-17 in Topeka.
