Ginger was born in Jay, Oklahoma on February 4, 1927, daughter of Maude Hazel (Shackleford) Snoddy-Netherton and Roy Snoddy.
Ginger attended the Bethel country school in rural Bethel, Oklahoma, and graduated from Colcord High School, Colcord, Oklahoma in 1944. She then graduated from Beau Gest Beauty School, in Joplin, Missouri. With her sisters, she moved to Pittsburg, Kansas where she worked until she bought her own beauty shop “Crown Beauty Shop”. Ginger and her sisters helped organize and start the National Hairdresser’s Association.
She was a member of McPherson Church of Christ, McPherson.
Ginger was the owner and operator of Ginger’s Beauty Shop which started in 1945 and she was a beautician for over 67 years.
She was a lifetime member American Legion Post No. 24 Ladies Auxiliary. Ginger enjoyed sports, and her high school took state in basketball. She also enjoyed playing cards, mainly bridge, and her family.
She was the widow of Rex L. Simpson. Ginger was united in marriage to Rex L. Simpson on July 10, 1949 at Muskogee, Oklahoma, between a double header baseball game in which Rex pitched the first game. Rex died on February 26, 2012.
She is survived by her nieces and nephews.
Ginger was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Rex L. Simpson; her son, Douglas Leon Simpson; her sisters Helen Williamson, Hazel Vena, and Betty Kyrias.
Memorial service will be held at McPherson Church of Christ, McPherson, Kansas, at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 29th, 2019 with Minister Gary Witcher officiating.
The final resting place will be at the McPherson Cemetery McPherson, Kansas.
