An Abilene man was arrested on suspicion of distributing drugs within 1,000 feet of a school, possession of opiates, and endangerment after a 31-year-old Salina woman was found overdosing on injected heroin Sunday night.
Salina Police Detective Sergeant David Villanueva said Monday that police and paramedics were called to the 2500 block of South Ohio at 10:39 p.m. for the report of a person in medical distress. Preliminary indications were that the woman was overdosing on an opiate, he said.
Villanueva said that further investigation revealed that Johnathan Scott Richardson, 30, had injected the female with heroin. The injection was consensual, Villanueva said. When she began to crash, Richardson called 911, he said.
Paramedics were able to revive the woman, who was then taken to the hospital for further treatment, Villanueva said.
