David E. Emig

David E. Emig, 84 of Abilene passed away Wednesday, March 20, 2019 at Village Manor in Abilene. He was born April 17, 1934 in Solomon, the son of Clinton and Cora (Comer) Emig.

He graduated from the Chapman High School in 1952.

David was a farmer, worked for Frisbee Construction as a supervisor and owned and operated Dave Emig Trucking for 15 years and served on the COOP board.

He enjoyed fishing and was the owner of Tri Lakes in Solomon.

On February 16, 2000 he was united in marriage to Donna Miller. 

David is survived by his loving wife Donna of the home. Daughters: Marla Meyer, Melissa Sellers and husband Michael and step-daughter, Phyllis Goodrich and husband Dean. Sons: Raymond Emig and wife Corazon and step-son, Douglas Miller and wife Janie. Twelve grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren. Step-brothers, Donald Carrier and wife Mary and Dennis Carrier and wife Freda. Sister Mildred Schrader and sister-in-law Linda Jo Ward.

He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Jeffrey Scott Emig, infant daughter, Angela Dawn Emig, step-mother Lela Emig, sister, Dorothy McMillan, brothers, Merle Emig and his wife Marjorie and Robert Emig and his wife Mary Jean.

Funeral Services for David will be 10:30 A.M., Tuesday, March 26, 2019 at Mt. Pleasant Church, rural Abilene with Pastors Mark Stanger and Stan Norman officiating. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery next to the church. Family will receive friends Monday evening from 6-8 P.M. at Carlson-Becker Funeral Home in Solomon. The family suggests memorials be given to the Hospice of Dickinson County or to the Alzheimer’s Association.
