Salina site of Advanced Storm Spotter Class

Salina will be the location of one of three Advanced Storm Spotter classes in the state.

In partnership with the National Weather Service office in Wichita, Saline County Emergency Management is scheduled to present the Salina Advanced Storm Spotter Class at 6:30 p.m. April 9 at Salina South High School, 730 E. Magnolia.

The other two Advanced Storm Spotter classes are scheduled for next week in Wichita and Independence.

The classes will be high-level presentations on storm formations, features, and radar interpretation. It is recommended that participants have already attended the basic course.

If you are interested in the advanced class, but haven’t yet attended the basic class, you can attend one of the following basic classes.

  • Russell: Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. in the Dream Theater, 629 N. Main
  • Ellsworth: Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. in the auditorium of Ellsworth High School, 211 W. 11th
  • Newton: Thursday at 6:30 p.m. in Lindley Hall, 720 N. Poplar

All advanced and basic classes are open to the public at no charge.
