Salina man arrested on suspicion of aggravated assault

A Salina man was arrested on suspicion of aggravated assault after an incident at a local bar just after midnight Thursday.

Salina Police Captain Paul Forrester said Thursday that Edward Milan, 35, of Salina, and Anne Johnson, 26, of Salina, were in a vehicle in the parking lot of Maggie Mae’s, 409 S. Broadway, when George Schmidt, 52, of Salina, pulled in behind them, shined a flashlight in the car and pulled out a black 9 mm Beretta handgun. Schmidt then drove away and Milan and Johnson followed him, Forrester said.

Schmidt ended up at the Hideaway, 540 Willis, where police made contact with him, found the handgun in his possession, and arrested him on suspicion of aggravated assault, Forrester said.
