ABILENE, Kan. — The Memorial Health System Volunteer Corps (MHSVC) has awarded two scholarships to Abilene High School seniors.
MHSVC announced that Abigail Elliott and Emily Burt have each been awarded a $500 scholarship. Both students will be graduating from Abilene High School later this month.
Elliott will be attending the University of Kansas in the fall, and wants to be an ear, nose, and throat (ENT) doctor. She grew up with chronic ear infections, and loved her ENT who inspired her to help people in a similar way.
Burt also will be attending the University of Kansas in the fall, and plans to major in molecular, cellular, and developmental biology. She hopes to work with adult patients suffering from Alzheimer’s and dementia.
MHSVC presents a scholarship annually to a local high school senior who has volunteered his or her time within the community and plans to pursue a career in health care.
