Learn CPR, bleeding control techniques at next Medical Explorer Post meeting

CLAY CENTER — A general overview of CPR and Stop the Bleed techniques are on the schedule for the next Medical Explorer Post meeting.

The meeting is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Clay County Medical Center.

These are two real-world, life-saving skills and members will get hands-on experience with them.

Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) is an emergency procedure that uses chest compressions to keep brain activity going, while the “Stop the Bleed” technique teaches how to help in a bleeding emergency before professional help arrives. Angie Spence, Penny Johnson, and Dianne Smith will teach the sessions.

The Medical Explorer Post is a group of high school students interested in learning more about the field of healthcare. It is open to any high school-aged student in the area and is free to join. The group will take the summer off, with the next scheduled meeting set for August. Contact coordinator Dan Thalmann, 785-630-2489 for more information.
