Gloria June Clark

Gloria June Clark, 78, Culver, left this earthly life and passed through the veil on Friday, May 17, 2019. June was born to Harold Elsy and Shirley (Clifton) Coody on February 3, 1941, in Delhi, Louisiana.

June is survived by her husband, Charles “Chuck” Clark of Culver, daughters Kim (Eldon) Smith of Ramona; Lee Ann Clark of Culver; Barbara J. Clark of Clearwater, and son Sam Clark of Portland, Oregon, and daughter-in-law Susan Scheffer, of Newton. She is also survived by her sister, Elsie Lee Felker of Vicksburg, MS, sister-in-law Ann Coody, Tallulah, LA. Grandchildren left to cherish her love: Barrett, Braxton, and Brooklyn Smith; Maddie, Jed, Lora, and Nate Clark; and Valerie and Vas Petik, as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.

June graduated from Epps High School Class of 1959. In high school she starred as the captain of the girls’ basketball team. Her loved of basketball continued throughout her life. March was a much-anticipated month as she followed and cheered on her favorite teams. She continued her education with a degree in nursing from the Sisters of Mercy Medical College of Nursing, Vicksburg, Mississippi. June served her country as a nurse in the Air Force during the Vietnam Era. June worked at Asbury Hospital in Salina, the VA Hospital in Dallas, TX for five years, and as the Ottawa County Hospice nurse for many years. She retired in 2002 but she extended her compassionate service to include six months of care giving to her brother-in-law, Sonny Felker, until his death.

Chuck and June would have celebrated their 55th anniversary next month. They met while she was stationed at Smoky Hill AFB at the Starlight Skating Rink. They were married in Monroe, Louisiana and had their marriage sealed for time and all eternity in The Salt Lake City Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

June lived a life of Christ-like love serving her family, friends, church family, neighbors, and community by faithfully caring for those in need cheerfully providing her nursing skills to benefit any and all.

Her parents preceded her in death as has her son Roger, brothers Harold and Talmadge Ray Coody, sister Linda Kay Novotny, three infant siblings, and brother-in-law Sonny Felker, and sister-in-law Donna Jean Sager.  

Visitation will be from 2:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M., Tuesday, May 21 at Wilson Family Funeral Home, Minneapolis, where the family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00. Graveside services will be at 11:00 A.M., Wednesday at Highland Cemetery which is located east of Minneapolis on K-106 Highway. Immediately following the service, a luncheon will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints located at 845 S. Ohio, Salina. A fitting memorial to June would be to follow her example by extending acts of kindness to all.
