On Saturday night at Tony’s Pizza Event Center, the Salina Liberty went for the season sweep of the Sioux City Bandits. Both teams entered the game with a 4-3 record setting up a big match-up in the CIF Northern Division.
As usual, when these two teams meet it went down to the final play of the game. With Salina leading 57-54, Sioux City attempted an onside kick with just :02 seconds remaining. The visiting Bandits recovered the football but the play was called illegal as the football did not travel the required ten yards. The play went under official review and was determined illegal touching by Sioux City. The Liberty would run the clock out and complete the season three game sweep of the Bandits, 57-54.
Salina is now 5-3 on the season and will be at home to host the division leading Omaha Beef on Saturday, June 1st at Tony’s Pizza Event Center.
