Florence Lorene Albert

Florence Lorene Albert was born October 25, 1929 in Altamont, Missouri, the daughter of Orlando “Lan” and Mabel Whitt Reed.  She died July 25, 2019 at the Residential Care Center in Beloit, KS at the age of 89 years.

Florence was brought to Beloit by her father to be raised by her Aunt Neva and Uncle Paul Roquet at a young age.  She attended the Beloit schools and graduated from Beloit High School in 1948.

On May 17, 1953 she was united in marriage with Billie J. Albert.  Four children were born to this union and they were privileged to spend 57 years of marriage together, living on their farm southwest of Glen Elder.  Billie passed away April 17, 2011.

Florence was a devoted farm wife, assisting Billie in many ways on the farm.  She loved the outdoors, fishing, rock collecting, and camping in the mountains. She cared deeply for animals and had a large menagerie of pets in her lifetime. She was a great cook and was known for the large meals that she lovingly prepared for family and guests. She loyally attended her children’s, grandchildren’s, and even recently, great-grandchildren’s sporting events.  She always had a smile for everyone and put others’ needs before her own.  She loved her family most of all, and will be greatly missed.

Florence was a member of the Glen Elder United Methodist Church and the American Legion Auxiliary.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, infant twin brother and the Roquets.

She is survived by her children: Rod and Ann of Glen Elder, Monte and Jolene of Cawker City, Vicki and Larry Hayden of Beloit and Sandee Albert and Bill Anderson of Lebanon; Grandchildren: Kelsey Adams, Beloit, Kari Mellies, Ness City, Arin Albert, Glen Elder, Ami Albert, Manhattan; Great-grandchildren: Colby Albert and Jayce Arnold, Kemper, Reed and Elle Adams, Colter and Conner Mellies; Step Grandchildren, Scott Hayden, Kim Steinert, Dustin Koster, Jerry Koster; Step-great grandchildren Kyler, Keegan and Daytona Hayden, Layton Arnold, Paige, Ariana and Jada Koster; Honorary granddaughter Riley Croissant; Cousin Margie Roquet Pahls and her faithful dog Toby.
