Two tractors belonging to a local trucking company were destroyed by fire late Tuesday afternoon.
Saline County Sheriff Roger Soldan said Wednesday that deputies and personnel from Rural Fire District No. 7 were called to Gary Johnson Trucking, 517 W. Diamond Drive, at 5:41 p.m. Tuesday for the report of two tractors on fire. Soldan said it is believed that a mechanical issue in one started the fire, which then spread to the other.
A fire inspector from the Salina Fire Department was on the scene as well, he said.
Lost in the fire were a 2008 International tractor valued at $35,000 and a 2006 Kenworth tractor valued at $40,000, Soldan said. The trailers attached to the tractors were not damaged, he said.
